Challenge

The Problem

The client needed a solution that could accurately monitor real user activity without requiring manual timers or wearable devices. The application also had to continue functioning across browser tabs and minimized windows, intelligently distinguish between short and long idle periods, support desktop-only browser capabilities, and provide a smooth SaaS onboarding and subscription experience.

Built a browser-based SaaS application that automatically detects user activity using the Chrome Idle Detector API and intelligently reminds users to take movement breaks after 50 minutes of sustained work. The platform includes seamless authentication, permission management, free trial onboarding, and Stripe-powered subscription billing.

Architecture

System Design

Users begin on a focused landing page before passing a Chrome compatibility check. After authenticating via Google or email, they grant notification and idle detection permissions. Chrome's Idle Detector API continuously monitors activity, while the reminder engine tracks active work sessions and triggers desktop notifications and break screens after 50 minutes of continuous activity. Stripe manages the free trial and subscription lifecycle, with application settings providing account, billing, support, and legal management.

Users begin on a focused marketing page that explains the health problem, demonstrates the intelligent reminder workflow, and guides them through a Chrome-compatible onboarding experience.

Reminder Engine
